Editorial and Funding Disclosure
A reader is entitled to know who pays for what they are reading and what that payment buys. This page states our funding arrangements in full, and the editorial rules those arrangements are subject to.
How this site is funded
Printer Setup Reference is funded by third-party display advertising served through Google AdSense. Advertisements appear in designated slots on our pages and are the sole source of revenue for this publication.
We do not sell software, licences, activation codes, subscriptions, support plans, hardware, or services of any kind. We take no payment from readers, operate no paywall, and solicit no donations. We charge nothing for access to any article on this site.
What advertising does and does not mean
- Advertisements on this site are selected and served by third-party advertising technology, not chosen by our editorial staff. We do not know in advance which advertisement a given reader will be shown.
- The presence of an advertisement is not an endorsement. An advertisement may appear on a page whose text is critical of the category the advertiser occupies. We do not vet advertisers, we cannot verify their claims, and we have no relationship with them beyond the advertising network that places them.
- Advertisements are visually distinct from editorial content and are labelled as advertising. If you encounter an advertisement on this site that is deceptive, that imitates a manufacturer's official channel, or that appears to offer paid technical support, please report it to us at editorial@printerreference.info with the page address and, if possible, a screenshot. We will report it to the advertising network.
- Our advertising revenue depends on page views in aggregate. It does not depend on which manufacturer an article discusses, on whether an article is favourable, or on any reader taking any action.
Vendor neutrality
We hold no commercial relationship with HP Inc., Seiko Epson Corporation, Brother Industries, Ltd., or any other manufacturer, retailer, or software publisher. Specifically:
- We accept no payment, product, hospitality, advertising commitment, or other consideration from any manufacturer in exchange for coverage, placement, tone, or omission.
- We publish no sponsored articles, advertorials, or paid guest posts. Should that ever change, any such item would be labelled unambiguously as paid content at the top of the page, before the first paragraph.
- We participate in no affiliate or referral programme, and our articles contain no affiliate, tracking, or commission-bearing links.
- We do not recommend one manufacturer's product over another's. Our articles explain how categories of software and connection methods work; product selection is left to the reader.
How we source and review our content
- Our articles explain concepts, terminology, and general principles. They are not step-by-step instructions for particular models, because instructions that are correct for one model are frequently wrong for another, and a wrong instruction confidently delivered is worse than none.
- Where a manufacturer's product or naming convention is described, it is described from that manufacturer's own published documentation, and the description is kept at the level of function rather than procedure.
- Product names, application names, platform availability, and setup addresses change without notice at the manufacturer's discretion. We review our published pages periodically and note the review date on each. Between reviews, the manufacturer's own documentation is authoritative and ours is not.
Corrections
We correct factual errors promptly and visibly. Substantive corrections carry a dated note on the affected page describing what changed. Minor fixes — typography, formatting, a broken internal link — are made without a note. To report an error, write to editorial@printerreference.info identifying the page and the statement you believe to be wrong.
Editorial independence statement
No advertiser, network, manufacturer, or third party has any right of review, approval, or veto over our editorial content prior to publication, and none is offered. Decisions about what to publish and how to describe it are made solely by our editorial staff.
